Papers of Louis Joseph Halle, 1952-1997.

The papers consist chiefly of the correspondence of Halle and Kenneth Thompson, 1986-1997, concerning international relations and attempts to publish a volume of Halle's articles and essays and then have the volume reviewed and sold overseas. There are also copies of correspondence with Dean Rusk, 1966-1984. Topics in the correspondence include Vietnam and communism, the cold war, foreign policy of George Bush and Bill Clinton, "neo-realism," nuclear weapons, deterrence, and international relations. The collection also contains manuscripts of Halle's work including "Food for thought"; "The object of and the approaches to the study of international relations"; "The evolution of world politics"; "Failures of peace-making"; "My life with Franklin D. Roosevelt"; "Lessons from childhood, deterrence versus battle"; and "On understanding politics."
